If your home or business is based in Wales and is currently using oil as fuel for your heating needs, then you could be forgiven for thinking that there are not any viable alternatives available to you.
Oil has become the staple fuel source for almost all non-gas grid domestic and commercial heating. Largely due to the fact that it can be stored on site and provides an efficient and reliable heating output. But in no small part this has become the norm due to lack of other options.
However, biomass is not only a viable option, it is realistically the only viable alternative to oil-fired boilers in off gas grid locations. Innasol have been operating across Wales and the rest of the UK for over ten years supplying biomass boilers to our local installation partners.
In simple terms biomass is fuel derived from biological sources. Biomass boilers burn wood to generate the heat for your home or business. The wood fuel for biomass boilers comes in a variety of forms, the best of which is wood pellets. These are specially manufactured pellets made from sustainably managed woodlands and wood waste and dried to provide a specific level of energy output.
Biomass boilers can also burn logs or wood chips. Owing to the fuel source, the sustainability of its production and waste output biomass is a carbon-neutral heating source. This means that it is classified as a renewable or green solution.
Wales has a large amount of non-gas serviced domestic and commercial properties with the centre of the country almost entirely devoid of gas supply. This means that biomass is the only real alternative to oil for the vast majority of those homes and businesses.
