July 23, 2026 Green Heat and Energy Efficiency

Across the past year, we’ve seen a clear shift in businesses making confident decisions about their energy, choosing solutions that work for them, and putting systems in place that support how they operate every day.

From farms to manufacturers, the focus has been the same, to make energy simpler, more reliable and better aligned with the future.

Here’s how that progress has started to come through in our projects.

Stronger, more reliable heat on UK farms

On poultry farms, heating sits at the heart of daily operations, delivering the consistent, dependable conditions needed every day.

This year, we’ve seen farms take real steps to strengthen that part of their operation.

In Wiltshire, one farm invested in a high-capacity woodchip system, designed around the way the site actually runs. The result has been immediate, with lower heating costs, stable conditions across sheds, and a system that simply delivers without disruption.

Elsewhere in Lincolnshire, another farm has continued to build on over a decade of using biomass. By adding extra capacity to support expansion, they’ve kept everything that already worked, the reliability, familiarity and ease of use, while scaling up to meet growing demand.

What stands out across both is how straightforward the change has been. No unnecessary complexity, just systems that fit, perform and support the day-to-day running of the farm.

Solar is unlocking new opportunities for manufacturers

We’ve also seen growing momentum in manufacturing, where businesses are taking a more proactive approach to electricity.

At Solway Precast, the move to solar has created a simple but powerful shift. Through a fully funded Solar PPA (Power Purchase Agreement), they’ve been able to generate clean power onsite without upfront investment, while securing long-term price stability at the same time.

It’s a model that’s really opening doors for businesses. Instead of waiting or weighing up large capital decisions, businesses can move forward in real time, reducing reliance on the grid, lowering carbon emissions and bringing greater certainty to their energy costs.

It’s a practical step, but one that makes a real difference to how sites operate and plan ahead.

Smarter, more connected energy systems

Alongside individual projects, there’s been real progress in how systems are coming together.

The move toward combining solar with battery storage is a natural next step, helping businesses get more from the energy they generate and use it more effectively.

Through our Value-Added Partnership with Sungrow, we’ve been able to bring this approach to more sites across the UK and Ireland. What started as a single project, where Sungrow’s technology proved itself in a complex installation, quickly developed into a strong working relationship. From there, the partnership grew organically, built on a shared focus on performance, reliability and practical delivery.

Now, that relationship is helping make battery storage more accessible, while making it easier to deliver complete, joined-up energy systems.

It gives businesses greater flexibility in how they generate, store and use energy day to day.

Built around how businesses actually operate

What links all of this is a simple starting point: understanding how each site really works.

From there, it’s about putting the right pieces in place, whether that’s renewable heat, solar, battery storage, or a combination of all three.

The key is that it fits. Nothing overcomplicated, nothing forced, just systems that slot into place and support the way the business already operates.

Moving forward, with confidence

What we’re seeing isn’t a single moment of change, it’s steady progress. Businesses are moving forward with energy decisions that feel practical, considered and right for them. They’re putting systems in place that offer consistency, support growth and reduce uncertainty, all without overcomplicating things.

It’s measured, it’s grounded, and most importantly, it’s working, and as more projects take shape, that momentum is only building.
